Empowering young people to find their voice and feel confident, even when they are trying new things, is the backbone of the Summer Quests program.
CORE VALUES
Our summer camp is built on these core values. We work to ensure every camper has a chance to express or learn about these items each week.
» COURAGE
Display strength in the face of adversity and always try your best.
» HONOR
Always do what is right. Respect yourself, others, & the Earth.
» VISION
Trust your intuition. Value imagination & play.
Summer Quests Day Camp is owned and operated by a mother/daughter team who strive for a camp community that focuses on respect, creativity, teamwork, courage, and imagination.
Your camper has never experienced a day camp like ours!
Jessica is an Environmental Science graduate who has experience as a day camp Program Director, many summers as a camp counselor at the Althouse Arboretum and the Schuylkill Center, and is the driving force behind our themes and quest activities.
Joni is a professional Graphic Designer with many years of experience running themed events and camp programs through the Girl Scout program. Most days you will find her in the parking lot greeting campers or working on some silliness for the campers like jello or foamy slip and slides.
We absolutely have a TON of fun at camp, but the daily grind of swim towels, lunchtime clean up, and hot hot weather can exhaust even the most experienced counselor.
Your mental health and enjoyment of the job is important to us. We have laid out realistic responsibilities and expectations here to ensure full transparency and we welcome all questions prior to applying and/or during the interview process.
Camp sessions run 6/19 - 8/18. Staff training will be the week of June 12 and is required. Ideally candidates will be available during this time period with limited requests for time off. Daily hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.
All staff are required to provide or obtain background checks, child abuse clearances, and FBI fingerprinting, as well as complete a Pediatric CPR & First Aid course. Reimbursement for associated fees is available.
Our campers safety is always our top priority. From sunblock and staying hydrated, to ensuring no one is left out of the game, balancing the needs of many campers throughout the summer is a challenge we rise to every day.
All staff are encouraged to find ways to make magic for campers - teaching a new game, wearing a plush unicorn head and surprising campers, or creating fae mischief by hiding water bottles - camp magic comes from Counselors!

Kaytlyn joined us in 2022 with years of experience in day care and was a perfect fit to lead our youngest campers. During the year she works in a Behavioral Support classroom in the Souderton School District. Her patience is the stuff of legends!
This will be her third summer with SQDC and we are pretty sure we couldn't do it without her. The rest of the year, Bridgette teaches 4th grade in Chester, PA and her skills around group management are second to none. Teacher by trade and a champion of Fandoms!
Alexis has been with SQDC since our very first summer in 2019 and has moved from a camper, to CIT, and now an employee. Although she is still in high school, don't let her age fool you - her leadership skills and camp experiences make her a camper favorite!
Zachary joins the SQDC team for his first summer and brings loads of experience working with kids, as well as with a love for all things fandom! Past experience includes Legoland, as a library volunteer, and as a trainer for junior staff members with the eCLOSE Institute.
Deirdre has been with us since our very first year, way back in 2009. She was a camper, then a CIT, and now is on Staff for a few weeks this summer. Her chosen super power? "I would love the power of illusion because I could create beautiful scenery with a dramatic effect."
Zach has been a CIT and a Dungeons & Dragons camper last summer and now he's on staff! His chosen super power? "I would love super speed so I could do a lot of things at once and help more people at the same time."
Jackson joined us for two summers for our Dungeons & Dragons camp. His chosen super power? "I would have to say Telekinesis. Lifting objects with your mind would be so cool, and very useful in a variety of ways."
Jaden was with us last summer as a CIT, turned Staff, and was a quick camper favorite! His chosen super power? "I would love the power to not get sore and achy after doing rigorous actives. I chose this because being sore and having everything hurt is not fun."
NINA, LEAD COUNSLEOR
Her chosen super power? "I would want the power to both turn into animals and communicate with them.
Because there are so many animals with so many adaptations, I feel like I could navigate most
situations by taking advantage of that."
