Empowering young people to find their voice and feel confident, even when they are trying new things, is the backbone of the Summer Quests program.
CORE VALUES
Our summer camp is built on these core values. We work to ensure every camper has a chance to express or learn about these items each week.
» COURAGE
Display strength in the face of adversity and always try your best.
» HONOR
Always do what is right. Respect yourself, others, & the Earth.
» VISION
Trust your intuition. Value imagination & play.
Summer Quests Day Camp is owned and operated by a mother/daughter team who strive for a camp community that focuses on respect, creativity, teamwork, courage, and imagination.
Your camper has never experienced a day camp like ours!
Jessica is an Environmental Science graduate who has experience as a day camp Program Director, many summers as a camp counselor at the Althouse Arboretum and the Schuylkill Center, and is the driving force behind our themes and quest activities.
Joni is a professional Graphic Designer with many years of experience running themed events and camp programs through the Girl Scout program. Most days you will find her in the parking lot greeting campers or working on some silliness for the campers like a foam slip and slide.
We absolutely have a TON of fun at camp, but the daily grind of swim towels, lunchtime clean up, and hot hot weather can exhaust even the most experienced counselor.
Your mental health and enjoyment of the job is important to us. We have laid out realistic responsibilities and expectations here to ensure full transparency and we welcome all questions prior to applying and/or during the interview process.
We love teachers and have several on staff!
Camp sessions run 6/17 - 8/16. Staff training will be the week of June 10 and is required for some positions. Staff need to commit to be available during this time period with limited requests for time off.
All staff are required to provide or obtain background checks, child abuse clearances, and FBI fingerprinting, as well as complete a Pediatric CPR & First Aid course. Reimbursement for associated fees is available.
Safety is always our top priority. From sunblock and staying hydrated, to ensuring no one is left out of the game, balancing the needs of many campers throughout the summer is a challenge staff needs to rise to every day.
All staff are encouraged to find ways to make magic for campers - teaching a new game, wearing a plush unicorn head and surprising campers, or creating fae mischief by hiding water bottles - camp magic comes from Counselors!

This will be her fourth summer with SQDC and we are pretty sure we couldn't do it without her. The rest of the year, Bridgette teaches 4th grade in Chester, PA and her skills around group management are second to none. Teacher by trade and a champion of Fandoms!
Kaytlyn joined us in 2022 with years of experience in day care and was a perfect fit to lead our youngest campers. During the year she works in a Behavioral Support classroom in the Souderton School District. Her patience is the stuff of legends!
Alexis has been with SQDC since our very first summer in 2019 and has moved from a camper, to CIT, and now to staff. Her imagination and love of adventure, along with her patience and kind heart, make her an easy camper favorite!
Uno champion and supplier of endless good vibes! Her chosen super power? "I would want the power to both turn into animals and communicate with them. Because there are so many animals with so many adaptations, I feel like I could navigate most situations by taking advantage of that."
Deirdre has been with us since our very first year in 2009. She was a camper, then a CIT, and now is a staff member. She has never shied away from any crazy idea we have presented (dressing up at Princess Peach or helping campers mold owls from clay) and is always up for an adventure!
Jaden is a master of a thousand voices & faces which is perfect for our Quest activities! As a CIT turned Staff, he is always a camper favorite (overheard in 2024 - "Jaden is so fire" and we agree). His choice for a new staff member if it could be anyone? "I would bring Paddington Bear from the Paddington books. He is so innocent and thoughtful."
This is Maya's first summer as a counselor with us, but was a CIT with us as well! Some of her favorite fandoms are Mario, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, and The Legend of Zelda. I think their well-developed characters and exploration of deep themes are why I love the stories. They also make for great Summer Quest adventures!
Their chosen super power? "I would want the power to both turn into animals and communicate with them. Because there are so many animals with so many adaptations, I feel like I could navigate most situations by taking advantage of that."
Nathan started with us as a CIT and is one of our resident fandom experts - especially anything Pokémon. He also brings with him lots of outdoor knowledge and leadership experiences from his time with Scouts BSA.
A new face on our team, she brings her experience working with the Big Brothers/Big Sister program, as a teachers assistant, as well as in special needs classrooms. "If I could pick anyone to be on staff with me, I would bring Max - the horse from Tangled. I love stories with fun adventure and a happy ending!"
Another new face to the SQDC team! She comes to us with experience as a stage manager, tech member, & performer for family shows with the Dutch County Playhouse, as well as 13 years with Girl Scouts, from grades K to a Senior in HS.
Caleb has been a CIT for several years and is joining us on staff for the first time this summer. If he could bring anyone to join us at SQDC he would pick Link from the Legend of Zelda since he has numerous abilities & items that would useful to the staff.
Despite being the youngest member of our team, he is always a steady voice of reason in what can sometimes be a chaotic sea of kiddos. Up for any challenge we throw at him, we are thrilled he wanted to move into a staff position after a few years as a CIT. He is also giving Miss Nina a run for her money as Uno Champion!
This is her first summer with us as a counselor, but she is also a past CIT, so she has first hand experience to share with campers. When asked who she would like to have as an extra staff member - "I would love to bring Winnie-The-Pooh with me - he's so sweet, like honey!"
