Greystone Academy for Witches and Wizards – Week 1

Our program is unique. Working together, campers will solve riddles, complete challenges, and explore other mysteries to find important clues for that weeks Quest. These clues will lead campers on an adventure that includes scavenger hunts, building projects, costume and prop creation, science experiments, games, and much more. In the end, they will complete the Quest and celebrate victoriously!
Our summer camp, which hosts 9 weeks of day camp for children ages 6-12, is seeking an energetic, accountable Camp Lead Counselor to provide a safe and memorable experience for our campers. The ideal candidate will be an excellent multi tasker with a genuine passion for empowering young people. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving, and confident in their ability to motivate and assist campers through everything from learning new skills to working through disagreements. Our Counselors need to be dedicated to ensuring the magic of our themes come alive for every camper.
The ideal candidate would have experience managing groups of children, an interest in the fantasy themes we use (wizard, knight, jedi, fairy, etc) and should be open to wearing costumes, singing songs, playing games, and getting dirty! You should also have a good ability to be a problem solver, champion safety, and create comradery within each group.
Summer Day Camp Lead Counselor responsibilities are:
• Make campers feel welcome and facilitate comradery within your group
• Facilitate group activities for your campers following the guidelines provided by the Camp Directors
• Take a proactive role in ensuring our Quest programming is successful, mitigating possible pitfalls or bringing to the Camp Directors
• Empowering campers to use their intellect and imagination to complete Quest programming
• Ensure camper physical and emotional safety every day, all day
• Mediate any conflicts that may arise between members of your group using positive, respectful methods
• Open and honest daily communication with the Camp Directors and all staff
• Model behavior for Assistant Counselors and CIT’s
• Delegate tasks to Assistant Counselors and CIT’s
• Possible overnight camping opportunity
Summer Day Camp Lead Counselor requirements are:
• Age 18 +
• High School Graduate
• Experience facilitating activities and managing groups of children ages 6 – 12
• High level of flexibility and creativity
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Must be able to participate in occasional strenuous physical activities in summer heat
• Demonstrated skills in conflict de-escalation and mediation
• CPR & First Aid certified or willing to get trained
• Provide or acquire Child Abuse & Background checks through the state of PA

• Daily schedule is approximately 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday
• Seasonal Position: June 13th – August 23rd
• Paid training prior to start of camp (required: June 13th – 17th)
• Easy going, fun work environment

• Manage the group for for short periods if Lead Counselor is pulled away
• Empowering campers to use their intellect and imagination to complete Quest programming
• Ensure camper physical and emotional safety every day, all day
• Mediate any conflicts that may arise between members of your group using positive, respectful methods
• Open and honest daily communication with the Camp Directors and all staff
Summer Day Camp Assistant Counselor requirements are:
• Age 16+
• Demonstrated experience with children or completed our CIT program
• Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activities in summer heat
• Our ideal candidate would be flexible, team player, outgoing, and communicative.
• If 18 years or older, provide or acquire Child Abuse & Background checks through the state of PA

The ideal candidate would have some role playing or acting experience and be willing to dress up and create characters that will interact with the campers. Applicants should be flexible, patient, and personable. Our staff needs to be dedicated to ensuring the magic of our themes comes alive for every camper. The ideal candidate would have some experience with children, and interest in the fantasy themes we use (wizard, knight, jedi, fairy, etc) and should be open to wearing costumes, singing songs, playing games, and getting dirty!
Summer Day Camp Program Assistant/Actor responsibilities are:
• Assist Program Director to set up crafts, activities, and games
• Lead certain activities and/or help facilitate more involved projects
• Set out Quest props, sometimes walking all around camp
• Dress up and play a character that interacts with the camper depending on the theme that week – answering questions, singing songs, handing out clues, etc.
• Make campers feel welcome and included
• Empower campers to use their intellect and imagination to complete Quest programming
• Ensure camper physical and emotional safety every day, all day
• Jump in to help the Camp Directors or Counselors with whatever is needed
Summer Day Camp Program Assistant/Actor requirements are:
• Age 18+
• Experience working with children
• Experience with cosplay, role playing, and/or acting
• Must be able to participate in strenuous physical activities in summer heat
• Our ideal candidate would be flexible, team player, outgoing, and communicative
• Provide or acquire Child Abuse & Background checks through the state of PA

We are seeking a responsible Day Camp Counselor to act as the Dungeon Master for two sessions (July 25-29 & August 1-5) of Dungeons & Dragons for campers ages 10+, as well as lead the group through STEM projects, prop construction, and other activities. The ideal candidate would have experience playing tabletop role playing games, especially Dungeons & Dragons, but also must have experience managing groups of kids. About ⅓ of the day will actually be playing the game with the rest of the day enjoying other activities like scavenger hunts and crafting foam weapons.
Summer Day Camp DND Camp Counselor responsibilities are:
• Act as the Dungeon Master for your group, facilitating robust game play for new and experienced players.
• Facilitate real life character development with costume and prop creation activities as provided by the Camp Directors
• Facilitate additional games and activities for your group as provided by the Camp Directors
• Make campers feel welcome and facilitate comradery within your group

• Must be able to participate in strenuous physical activities like running games and hiking in the summer heat
• Our ideal candidate would be flexible, team player, outgoing, and communicative
• Provide or acquire Child Abuse & Background checks through the state of PA

SQDC is a small camp with just 30 campers each week which makes offering extended care and transportation challenging, however we understand how important both options are for working parents!
Extended Care will be offered on a case-by-case basis. Please indicate your needs on the registration form and we will be in touch shortly. If we are unable to accommodate your needs, you can receive a full refund.
Transportation is available. We are happy to offer the following pick-up stops for campers. Cost is $60 per camper.

Don’t see a stop near you? Let us know and we may be able to add one! Stops are based on the home locations of our registered campers who requested transportation. Be sure to check the box on your registration form and will work on getting a new stop added. If we are unable to accommodate your needs, you can receive a full refund.
Summer Quests Day Camp is located within the Musser Scout Reservation in Camp Delmont at the Nelson Training Center.
The Musser Scout Reservation is part of the largest contiguous forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania and offers our campers, hiking trails, activity pavilions, and a lake, as well as a long history of connecting kids with nature.
